Searching for new meanings…
Long time no see…I started this website at the beginning of 2026 but then I started to feel lost and job-wise things were a mess. I hated it and hated how capitalism makes business owners forget about their original purpose. So I stopped living and stopped this project thinking I wouldn’t return. But then I guess I was not completely disappointed with life that I signed up for a degree course in Chinese calligraphy! And to stir things up a bit more, I even signed up for student group events! I think this is thanks to the absolute frustration I had with my life and I desperately wanted to make some changes to it. Anyway now that I’m doing something actually culture-related and being enlightened by course contents involving many East Asian philosophical thinkings, I think I’m gonna return to this project and give this website a brush-up, new planning and new ideas.
We will see how this goes…
The Beijing trip has been chaotic, with a feverish foreign son-in-law, a sick daughter (me) and the retired parents who had to take care of the bed-laden young people. But somehow we managed to regain our health enough to get to the Forbidden City and it was MASSIVE! Yes even for Chinese standard. I was a bit (just a bit) jealous of the concubines who lived here in the palace of glamour and grandeur (before they got plotted and executed or assassinated…) and at the same time I was (still am) in awe of the masterful construction skills of the craftsmen back then. So much more to learn about these histories and architecture! The day ended with a feast of Peking duck and I’m glad my foreign husband liked it too, even the duck skin part:)
